Preschool Swim Lessons | Ages 3-5

The Preschool Lessons have three levels of progressive instruction. On the first day of each session, all participants are tested and assigned to stations equivalent to their ability. Preschool lessons are 8 days with a class length of 30 minutes. The first week runs Monday through Friday, and the second week runs Monday through Wednesday. Ratio is 1 instructor for every 5 participants.

 

Youth Swim Lessons | Ages 6 & Older

The Youth Lessons follow a station method of instruction. Students are tested the first day and placed in one of the seven skill levels. Students will be taught skills needed to progress into successful swimmers. Youth lessons are 8 days with a class length of 45 minutes. The first week runs Monday through Friday, and the second week runs Monday through Wednesday. Ratio is 1 instructor for every 6 participants.

 

Parent and Tot Swim Lessons | Ages 6-18 months/18-36 Months

This class gives orientation to the water and provides the means for the child to develop balance, coordination, and strength. The class is designed for parent and child to work together under the instructor’s supervision. Please note: One child per parent. Six classes.

 

Private Swim Lessons

Private swim lessons are the ideal lessons for children who need one-on-one instruction. Private lessons follow the same station method of group lessons which build upon skills as the participants develops. Participants will be taught the skills needed to progress into successful swimmers. Private swim lessons are 30 minutes. The same instructor is guaranteed for days signed up for each two week session. Classes cancelled less than 24 hours in advance will not be refunded.

 

SEA Lion Starters | Ages 8-13

Designed for those looking to join Sea Lions Swim Team, but are lacking endurance and techniques. This class will go beyond the fundamentals taught in swim lessons. Participants will learn regulation turns, define stroke techniques, and build endurance. Participants will get to participate in an exhibition heat event at a Woodridge Sea Lions home swim meet. Class does not meet on weekends. Participants must have completed at least Level 6 of swim lessons.

 

Junior Lifeguard | Ages 8-13

Too young to lifeguard at Cypress Cove? Learn the necessary skills to be a nationally recognized Star Guard Lifeguard! Participants will undergo the same training as the Woodridge Park District’s lifeguards. Participants proficient in all skills will be considered candidates for the following summers.

Swim Lesson registration begins April 5 for residents and April 12 for non-residents

Registration can be done online or in person at the following locations/times:

ARC, 8201 S. Janes Avenue, Woodridge
Monday-Friday: 9 AM-6 PM | Saturday: 9 AM-12 PM

Fred C. Hohnke Community Center, 2600 Center Drive, Woodridge
Thursday: 9 AM-4 PM

Finding the Location of Your Lesson
Swim lessons are color-coded to help participants find the location of their lessons with ease. Make note of the color associated with your registered class. Lesson Coordinators will be wearing polo shirts with the matching colors so you can easily identify and locate them on the pool deck.

Rain Days
At the end of each session two days are scheduled as rain days. Rain days are only used if a lesson was cancelled by the Lesson Coordinator. Only two rain days are possible for each session and they will occur RAIN or SHINE. Safety skills and lessons will occur on inclement rain days. There are no make-ups for sickness or vacation.

Sea Lions Swim Team

The Woodridge Park District is entering its 44th season as a member of the DuPage Swim & Dive Conference. Swimmers are divided into 5 age categories: 8 years and younger, 9 and 10 years, 11 and 12 years, 13 and 14 years, 15 through 18 years as of June 1, 2023. Birth Certificates are required for new swimmers only and must be presented at registration. New swimmers must be able to swim one continuous length of the pool. The season lasts approximately 2 months (June and July). Practices are held every morning Monday through Friday. Meets take place on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. The meets will be scored according to the United States Swimming (USS) rules for 2023. All parents are required to volunteer at swim meets. Registration for new swimmers must be completed in person at the Woodridge Park District Community Center. All new swim team swimmers will need to attend a preseason skills testing to ensure they are ready for swim team. Please visit www.woodridgeseaslions.org for complete team requirements.

Things to bring to registration:
Birth certificate • $60/$70 check for the Parent Association • Payment for registration

Returning swimmers will have their registration information mailed to the address associated with their Woodridge Park District Account. Returning swimmers can register by mail, drop off, or fax in. If you have not received your registration packet, please contact the Woodridge Park District Aquatic Manager at (630) 353-3300.
